Prints coming out warped 400% after preview was perfect

Turboprint 2.21-1 under Linux is producing a stretched image with bizarre colors when using PP101, PR101, and GP301 papers (at 8x10 size).
Here is the original image:

Here is the print preview in Bibble:

So far, so good. But here is the actual print:

It is stretched about 400% wide, lined, with crazy colors. I killed the print job after seeing 1/4 of the image and tried again on the same paper, so the bad print is on the top and bottom:
I have seen this problem in the past, it might have been with an older printer and I believe I was able to use other papers as a work-around (not a fix).
The paper I'm using is Canon PP201. There is not an option for that paper, so I used PP101, PR101, and GP301. I've now seen this image corruption four times in a row with these paper choices. I used two different images, same problem (I previously was printing successfully with paper GP301 at 4x6).
The turboprint preview shows the image properly, so the preview is not accurate (not doing it's job). I cannot experiment with the dozens of settings that might be changed, at about $1 per sheet of paper plus the cost of the ink, so please don't suggest experimentation. I am not here to experiment, I can do that on my own (and already have). Rather, I would like to know why the preview shows something COMPLETELY different than what is actually printing, and fix that works.
Thanks,
